Why am I losing Instagram Followers?

Don’t worry you are honestly not alone. I receive so many of messages a day from people asking why they’re suddenly losing followers. Even larger accounts lose followers on a daily basis. The larger the account the larger the unfollowing.

There are a number of reasons why you could be losing followers.

Everytime we post!

Every time we post is an opportunity to lose followers. Why? It reminds followers that they are following us when they see our post pop up, and they may just decide they don’t want to follow you anymore. They may not actually find your account relevant to them anymore.

They may not engage with you and vice versa.

What we share that day has the potential to turn a viewer off, they may not like what you are posting these days.

They may just simply be feeling overwhelmed by how many people they’re following and are missing posts from people they know and engage with.

Have you recently hosted a giveaway or been part of a follow train or loop? You may have gained 100 new followers but you can guarantee at least half will then unfollow you over the coming weeks.

But this is all fine and is a good thing – Yes I know I may sound crazy but sometimes quality is so much better than quantity.

In my experience, pretty much everyone loses some followers every time they post. So don’t worry this is completely normal and there is nothing you can do about it.

So what can you do about this?

You will never stop unfollows completely but here are a few ways to help:

Engage with as many accounts as possible. Take the time to reply to all comments and messages.

Try to gain enough followers everyday to replace them. Join my course 7 Day Insta Challenge to gain and maintain more organic followers.

Try not to post too often, once or twice a day is more than enough. I prefer to do one good post a day and spend my time engaging rather than posting and diluting the amount of engagement I get, as people don’t have time to comment on all of your posts.

Accept that your account isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, its ok for people to unfollow and try not to take it personally. .
